Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust

Have Issued the following notice 1st October 2021:-

From 4th to 8th October work to remove holly will be taking place in LONG WOOD. Please keep a safe distance from the machine and when possible, use alternative paths during that week.
Although a natural and beneficial part of the woodland ecosystem, the amount of holly present in some areas is threatening the existence of other species and preventing tree regeneration. Therefore this programme of reduction of holly cover is being undertaken in the Moss Valley Woodland Nature Reserve. Plenty of holly will be left across the woodland to provide food and shelter for wildlife.
